RFgen Software - Easy, Powerful Data Capture Solutions

Unleash Your Enterprises Potential

Wireless and mobile automated data collection solutions have the ability to unleash the unused potential in your existing enterprise system(s). RFgen’s mission is to fill the gap between your employees and your enterprise applications by delivering real-time information wherever they might be. Whether it’s SAP, IBM, JD Edwards, Microsoft, Oracle, or some other system that powers your enterprise, RFgen can seamlessly connect to it. RFgen based solutions will enable you to realize increased employee productivity, improve your decision-making processes, and support reliable, accurate automated data collection throughout the enterprise.

Open Systems Support - Database Connectivity

RFgen supports managed connectivity for any oledb / odbc compliant database on the market

The RFgen Framework supports managed connectivity to any OLEDB / ODBC compliant database like DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Access, and more. RFgen's advanced technology manages the entire connection life-cycle, from initial startup to final shutdown, completely eliminating these low-level details from your application design considerations. Using these managed connections, the RFgen Framework enables developers to quickly and easily access their enterprise data via SQL statements, Stored Procedures, and Oracle Packages.

One of the more interesting features of the RFgen Framework's managed data connections is its support for connection pooling. While it is possible to configure RFgen data connections to operate on a connection per client model, where each user has a unique handle to the database, most users choose to deploy RFgen solutions using a pooled model. RFgen connection pooling is a technology that allows database connections to be shared among multiple users, providing maximum utilization of your database licensing costs.

The ability to easily synchronize data from your managed enterprise database connections to your mobile or batch devices, either through being physically docked, wirelessly through your WiFi network, or via cellular is also an integral part of the RFgen Framework. In addition to simply transferring data between the enterprise and user devices, RFgen offers a module to provide data replication from your primary databases to remote / backup systems. Using this technology, RFgen customers are able to setup mission critical systems that can allow supply chain operations to continue even if the primary enterprise systems are offline or unavailable.

Open Systems Support – Service Oriented Architectures

RFgen simplifies the entire process of discovering and using web services to access your enterprise data

RFgen’s Web Services technology is used to facilitate the exchange of enterprise data by multiple, cross-platform applications. Using open protocols and interfaces, this technology removes much of the complexity associated with the exchange of data between applications that are running on different devices and using different operating systems. Connecting through a pre-defined web service, RFgen applications can issue data requests which encapsulate security, authentication, failure conditions, networking details, and more in a self-contained manner.

The RFgen Framework contains technology that makes it easy for mobile and wireless application developers to discover and exchange data with any number of web services. Using our built-in, embedded business objects, developers will find that RFgen greatly facilitates integration of mobile and wireless devices with business applications running on the enterprise intranet and business partners' extranets. Not only does RFgen reduce the challenges faced when developing applications that interact with specific core-business applications, it also simplifies the process of combining data from diverse sources to create greater business intelligence.

RFgen's Web Services technology implementation employs a n-tiered framework that is based on open specifications from the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Liberty Alliance Project. These specifications allow for the creation of solutions that are interoperable with the majority of web services implementations.

Open Systems Support – IBM / UNIX Screen Mapping

Easily work with your IBM and UNIX enterprise systems using RFgen's embedded host connectivity technology

For customers using IBM servers or UNIX based systems, the RFgen Framework provides built-in 3270 / 5250 / VT220 Screen Mapping capabilities to interact with Legacy enterprise systems. Using Screen Mapping, RFgen can quickly record the data entry process for various transactions, automatically generate a script to duplicate the process, and allow users to develop mobile and wireless data collection applications linked to these scripts to update the host system, as if the transaction were manually keyed into the system. RFgen provides three levels of Screen Mapping allowing developers to take advantage of the right set of technology to meet their projects unique requirements.

  •
  • Basic Screen Mapping – consists of the commands necessary to send and receive data from the host system, control program flow, and manage the connection state.
  •
  • Advanced Screen Mapping – provides additional functionality, including the ability to easily record the scripts required to update the host system, navigate from application to application, as well as to provide off-line data collection capabilities.
  •
  • Embedded Screen Mapping - takes the fields defined in your host screens, and allows users to quickly paint their applications, with zero to minimal coding requirements.

Using any combination of these approaches, RFgen based applications can combine data from multiple host screens, add additional functionality without changing the host system, allow users to operate even while the host is unavailable or off-line, as well as to combine data from multiple systems or platforms for display and update via a single transaction screen. For example, a developer might use RFgen to implement additional transactions not supported within SAP Console allowing RFgen to design console content or custom content based upon the transaction.

Open Systems Support – Certified Enterprise Connectors

The RFgen Framework also contains enterprise specific, certified connectors for a number of the most highly used enterprise systems on the market today. These connectors are then augmented by RFgen’s suites of pre-written, open source transactions for many of the most common mobile and wireless transactions used today. Written using vendor supplied API’s and tools, RFgen provides companies with proven, certified, access to their business rules and enterprise application data. At this time, certified connectors are available for…

  • SAP 4.6c or greater
  • SAP ERP2005
  • SAP ERP2006
  • JD Edwards Enterprise One

Using these built-in connectors any wireless, mobile, or RFID application can communicate with your enterprise system(s) and update it using its own internal logic. RFgen’s embedded enterprise connectors allow developers to retrieve definitions for your business functions, and then use point-and-click methods to generate all the code required to successfully interact with your business rules. Utilizing other components found within the RFgen Framework and any data capture application can be easily designed to support real-time enterprise system interaction, as well as off-line sometimes connected solutions – all at a fraction of the time, complexity and cost required by other products.

Best of all, RFgen's method does not require anything to be installed on your host server. This means you will not need any new releases from DataMAX of software patches to be able to continue data collection after an ERP system upgrade
